One aspect of iPhone 4 that is not getting a lot of attention is the three-axis gyroscope. The gyroscope is being viewed as the next evolution of the accelerometer that enabled so much tilt-action gaming in the previous iPhone and iPod Touch units. The gyroscope adds more than some finesse to gaming controls though as it adds spatial awareness that is similar to what a laser-pointer mouse has. The possibilities of having such a familiar interface device moving into the off-screen world open some very wide and interesting doorways.
